OI_Talks Vienna is organizing a series called Techno-Equality, which explores the intersection of technology and egalitarianism, inspired by Daron Acemoğlu and Simon Johnson's book Power and Progress. The series will address the question: Is it possible to understand techno-equality independently of power mechanisms?

In an era where artificial intelligence and technological advancements are pervasive, the series will discuss how to ensure that technological progress benefits all of society, rather than just those in power. The talks will feature global speakers and aim to promote an egalitarian approach to technological decision-making, challenging the oppressive and manipulative uses of technology and advocating for a more inclusive technological future.

The Venue

PALAIS FESTETICS

9th District, Vienna

In May 2024, Vienna welcomed a new venue for contemporary art with the Palais Festetics in the 9th district. The historic building, built in 1858, is in the style of Viennese Neo-Renaissance. Node Contemporary started opening this Palais to the public for the first time and will now bring the Noise Media Art Festival into this hidden gem.

The palace was built in 1858 in the style of the New Viennese Renaissance by the architect duo Johann Julius Romano (1818-1882) and August Schwendenwein (1817-1885) for Eugénie Countess Festetics von Tolna (1826-1894). The palace is a broad, representative building in the form of the Viennese Neo-Renaissance.
